Discover one of Peru’s best-kept archaeological secrets — Waqrapukara, the “Horned Fortress.” Perched dramatically on a mountain ridge overlooking the Apurímac Canyon, this hidden Inca site offers a perfect blend of mysticism, history, and natural wonder. The site’s name comes from Quechua: waqra (horn) and pukara (fortress), a reference to the horn-like rock formations framing the ruins.

Far from the crowds of more famous destinations, Waqrapukara invites adventurous travelers to experience the raw beauty of the Andes, explore ancient ceremonial grounds, and walk in the footsteps of the Incas — all with panoramic views that stretch across valleys and clouds.
