Palcoyo Mountain

4:30 AM: Hotel Pickup in Cusco
Start your journey early with a pickup from your hotel. Travel southeast through scenic Andean countryside and remote villages.

7:00 AM: Breakfast in Cusipata or Checacupe
Stop for a hot breakfast at a local restaurant en route. Your guide will share the day’s plan and safety information.

8:30 AM: Arrive at the Palcoyo Trailhead (4,800 m / 15,750 ft)
Begin your gentle hike toward the main viewpoints. The walk is relatively flat and takes about 45–60 minutes each way. Along the way, spot alpacas, llamas, and possibly vicuñas grazing freely.

9:30 AM – 11:00 AM: Explore the Palcoyo Viewpoints & Stone Forest
Enjoy panoramic views of three rainbow-colored mountains, each displaying different hues of red, yellow, and green. If conditions allow, take an optional short hike (approx. 20 min uphill) to the Stone Forest, a surreal group of sharp vertical rock formations that resemble petrified trees.

11:30 AM: Begin Return Hike
Walk back to the starting point at a relaxed pace, soaking in the silence and sweeping Andean views.

12:30 PM: Drive Back & Lunch Stop
Head back toward Cusco with a stop for a hearty buffet lunch in Cusipata or a local village.
